123-Woolverton Council > Public > Council Services
Community participation and an accessible decision-making process are the key to successful local government.
The first step towards participation is to make sure that you are registered on the electoral role as a resident or ratepayer of Woolverton. If you have just turned 18 or have only recently moved into the local area you may need to contact the NSW Electoral Commission on 1800-043-188 to make sure that you are properly registered. Local government elections are held every four years and the next election will be held in 2003. Voting is compulsory at local government elections and you will be fined if you fail to vote without being able to provide a valid reason.
Some other major avenues by which the citizens of Woolverton can participate in the decision-making process include:
speaking at Council Meetings
attending Committee Meetings
joining your local Precinct Committee
joining a Volunteer Program at your local community centre
viewing Council files or
nominating a referendum question at election time. |
